The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment was in infantry regiment, raised in 1970 through the joining of the Worcestershire Regiment and the Sherwood Foresters. Apart from a tour as Adjt Dhekelia Garrison in 1989 he spent the rest of his service in 1 WFR until retiring from the army in 1996 in various appointments including OC HQ Coy, Families Officer and Movements Officer for several moves. Ted was called up for national service in 1952 and after attending Eaton Hall OCS was commissioned in the Suffolk Regt and served with them during the Malaya emergency. When David left the Regiment he became a driver in the road haulage trade. Serving in D Coy Jack saw service in Islon Germany. 83 recruiting and advertising posters, British Army and Territorial Army, 1958-1979. Dennis enlisted into the Sherwood Foresters in May 1958 and discharged in 1960 and served in Malaya and Singapore. Within this time the Battalion moved from Hong Kong to Ballykelly and then to Munster. Tony Wright was commissioned from RMA Sandhurst into the 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters on 19 December 1958. As a result of this move he was one of the officers who participated in the Battalion's emergency deployment to Cyprus on Boxing Day 1963. He was discharged on 6 November 1989. On retirement from the Army John took on directorships with Derbyshire Rural Community Council for over 20 years as well as being Commandant of the Derbyshire Cadet Battalion of WFR, a member of East Midlands TAVRA and the Derbyshire ABF Committee. Sadly his wife died a few years ago but Barry, at 96 although now unable to get around was always willing to have a chat about currentevents and Legion activities.
